The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis is primarily set in a court room in modern day Purgatory where a trial is held debating the justice of Judas Iscariot’s eternal damnation. The main characters are the defense attorney Fabiana Cunningham, prosecuting attorney Yusef El-Fayoumy, and Judge Littlefield. While Judas is the subject of the play, he remains catatonic during the majority of the show.

My design for the set is meant for an abstract, minimalist interpretation.
The attorneys, judge, and bailiff sit in four white chairs in front of an
invisible jury represented by red chairs. On the far house right side of
the stage, Judas’s chair is isolated from the others. He remains on stage
during most of the play, watching but not reacting to his own trial.
